words by Vaidehi Bhardwaj, art by Hannah Nguyen

tu me manques means i miss you in french.

·ǝɯ ɯoɹɟ ʇuɐʇsᴉp ǝɹɐ noʎ suɐǝɯ sǝnbuɐɯ ǝɯ nʇ

i miss you.

i miss the you i was, the me i was,

‘ǝʎǝ ǝɥʇ ʻᴉ ǝɥʇ ʻǝɹǝʍ noʎ ǝɯ ǝɥʇ ʻǝɹǝʍ noʎ noʎ ǝɥʇ

i wonder what colors your eyes are, this close, refracted into light.

not yet having known loss—

wrinkles like words,

.ǝʅᴉɯs ɹnoʎ ɟo dᴉp ʎɹǝʌǝ uᴉ sʍopɐɥs

i watch my lips form shapes in your gaze.

tu me manques.
